Overview

Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler that took a very specific bet: the next wave of scheduling will not be done in a calendar UI, it will be done by an AI agent you already talk to.

The result is an application that treats its own interface as optional.

Every plan - including the entry tier - includes an MCP server, a CLI and a public API, with OAuth2 and an SDK for building on top of it.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Muse or any MCP-capable assistant and it can draft and schedule posts through Postiz while you review the queue in a visual calendar; message an OpenClaw agent on Telegram and it schedules for you; run Claude Code in a terminal and it creates and schedules posts from there.

For teams that prefer a conventional workflow, classic scheduling, cross-posting, repeated posts, post delays, posting sets and signatures are all there, plus RSS auto-posting for evergreen feeds. The functional core is broader than the agent framing suggests.

Posts publish to 30+ networks - the site names X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky and Telegram, and the product pages cover Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, Dribbble, Threads and Pinterest as well.

Analytics reports which posts and channels perform, customer groups organise channels by client or brand, which is the feature agencies will use most, and Plugs add automated engagement rules: set a milestone such as 100 likes on a post and Postiz will auto-post, auto-like or auto-comment to keep the thread moving.

The AI layer is metered separately from posting by design: unlimited posts on every plan, but AI images at 100, 300 and 500 a month and AI videos at 3, 10, 30 and 60, with video clipping minutes of 60, 120, 300 and 600 across the tiers. Pricing is published cleanly, and the tier logic is channels rather than seats or posts.

Standard is $29 a month for 5 channels with no team support; Team is $39 for 10 channels with unlimited team members and 100 AI images; Pro is $49 for 30 channels with 300 AI images; Ultimate is $99 for 100 channels with 500 AI images.

All plans include unlimited posts, the MCP server, CLI and API, custom integrations, webhooks, analytics, calendar views, customer groups, RSS auto-post and posting sets, with a monthly or yearly switch and a 7-day trial that costs $0.

The most consequential trade-offs are the channel caps - 5 channels on the cheapest plan is tight for anyone running several brands, and 30 on Pro still falls short of an agency with dozens of accounts - and the fidelity of running it yourself: the code is open source under AGPL-3.0, but the site's own FAQ makes clear that self-hosting involves paying for social media app approval, so it is not the zero-cost path it is sometimes described as.

Analytics are useful for a scheduler but shallower than a dedicated reporting platform, and every channel still depends on its own platform API limits, approvals and posting rules.

Use Cases

Running a multi-channel publishing calendar from one workspace instead of per-network tools

Letting an AI assistant draft and schedule posts through MCP while you review the queue in the calendar

Managing several client brands with separate channel groups in one agency workspace

Automating evergreen distribution with RSS auto-posting and posting sets

Wiring social publishing into n8n or Make workflows so content ships as part of a larger automation

Who Is This For

Content creators and solo marketers who want AI to handle scheduling drafts

Startups and small brands publishing across several networks with a tiny team

Agencies that need client-grouped channels and per-brand reporting

Automation and dev teams building publishing into their own pipelines via API or MCP

Teams that prefer open-source infrastructure they can self-host over another closed SaaS subscription

Key Features

MCP server, CLI and API on every plan

Postiz is designed to be driven by an agent: connect Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Muse or another MCP client, or work from the terminal with the CLI, and schedule posts without touching the calendar UI.

Scheduling across 30+ networks

Write once and publish to every channel you pick - X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Bluesky, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, Threads, Pinterest, Dribbble and more - with cross-posting, repeated posts, delays and a visual calendar.

Analytics and customer groups

See which posts and channels perform, then organise channels by client or brand in customer groups - the structure agencies need to keep accounts separate in one workspace.

Plugs for automated engagement

Set a milestone such as 100 likes on a post and Postiz auto-posts, auto-likes or auto-comments, so strong content keeps picking up engagement without manual monitoring.

Open source, with two ways to run it

The application is published under AGPL-3.0 (gitroomhq/postiz-app, 36,370 stars when we checked on 27 September 2026), so you can use the hosted plans or self-host - noting the site's own caveat that self-hosting involves paying for social media app approval.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Every plan includes the MCP server, CLI and API, so agent-driven scheduling is the default rather than an enterprise feature
  • Unlimited posts and unlimited team members from the $39 Team tier upward - you pay for channels, not for post volume or seats
  • Published pricing is simple and easy to budget: $29 for 5 channels, $39 for 10, $49 for 30 and $99 for 100, with a 7-day trial that costs $0
  • Open source under AGPL-3.0 with an active repository (36,370 stars and a commit pushed 26 September 2026), which is rare in this category and removes some vendor lock-in
  • Customer groups and analytics make it usable for agencies with multiple brands in one workspace
  • Native n8n and Make integrations plus webhooks and SDK/OAuth2 make it a building block for automation teams, not just a posting tool

Cons

  • Channels, not seats, are the limiting factor: 5 channels on Standard and 30 on Pro will not cover an agency or a holding company with many brands, and 100 channels on Ultimate costs $99 a month
  • AI generation is metered tightly on lower tiers - 3 AI videos and 60 clipping minutes a month on Standard, so video-heavy workflows need Pro or Ultimate
  • The hosted Standard tier excludes team support entirely, so collaboration starts at $39 a month per workspace
  • Self-hosting is not free in practice: the site's FAQ makes clear that self-hosted users pay for social media app approval, and you own the maintenance of an application that depends on constantly changing platform APIs
  • Analytics are adequate for a scheduler but shallow next to dedicated social reporting platforms, and competitor/benchmark data is absent
  • Its own positioning as an agent-first tool means the calendar, engagement and reporting surfaces are less mature than those of established schedulers like Buffer or Hootsuite

Editorial verdict: Postiz is the clearest example of a scheduling tool being rebuilt around agents rather than bolted onto them, and putting MCP, CLI and API on the $29 entry tier is the decision that matters - it lets a two-person marketing team keep publishing from the assistant window they already live in, with the calendar as a review surface. The channel maths is the thing to check before you buy: 5 channels is a single brand, 30 is a small portfolio, and 100 is where agency work starts. Self-hosting is a real option but not a free one, since social app approval still carries a cost, and analytics will not replace a dedicated reporting tool. Softer design and reporting depth than the incumbent schedulers is the price of getting the agentic workflow first.
