Overview
KoalaWriter is the writing product that made Koala AI a familiar name among affiliate publishers and programmatic content shops, and the current version is a broader platform wrapped around the same core job: give it a keyword, a competitor URL or a Search Console opportunity and it produces a long, structured, publish-ready article.
Work happens in a browser editor with an outline you can adjust, then an AI edit pass that tightens readability, splits overlong paragraphs and removes repetition.
Words are the official unit of account, and every plan publishes its quota: 45,000 words a month on Starter, 100,000 on Professional, 250,000 on Boost, then 500,000, 1,000,000, 1,500,000, 2,500,000, 5,000,000 and 10,000,000 words across Growth, Elite, Advanced and the three Scale tiers.
Credits, issued separately, pay for research calls, agent messages and images. Two features justify the price over a general-purpose assistant.
The first is Brand DNA: point Koala AI at your site once and it reads your services, tone and existing pages, so every article, recommendation and chat answer is written in your voice and aware of what you already published - the same profile is what your AI assistant reads through the MCP server.
The second is the Search Console and Analytics dashboard on Professional and above, which turns your own query data into content opportunities instead of leaving keyword discovery to a third-party tool; KoalaLinks then indexes your site and inserts contextual internal links across up to 50 sites, which is the chore most content teams never finish.
Bulk writing mode, WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost publishing, webhooks, KoalaImages and live Amazon data for affiliate roundups round out the production line. The MCP server is the most interesting recent addition, and it is included with every paid plan rather than sold as an add-on.
Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant and it can read your Brand DNA, knowledge base, content calendar and connected Google data for free, then run keyword, competitor, backlink and SERP research against the credits your plan already includes - the site advertises 62 SEO tools behind the MCP plus KoalaWriter itself.
The catches are arithmetic and editorial.
Word quotas are model-dependent: the pricing page states quotas are based on GPT-6 Luna, while GPT-6 Sol and Claude Sonnet 5 count words at 2x and Claude Opus 5.5 at 3x, so a 100,000-word plan can be as little as 33,000 words on the strongest model.
And a platform this automated produces content at a rate that Google's scaled-content policy is explicitly aimed at, so the human edit, the sourcing and the niche expertise still have to come from your team.
Use Cases
Publishing a consistent article schedule for an affiliate or niche site without a writing team
Turning Search Console opportunities into drafts that are already internally linked
Refreshing and expanding existing posts that are losing rankings
Producing product roundups with live Amazon data and affiliate links at volume
Coordinating content production across several sites or client blogs in bulk writing mode
Who Is This For
Affiliate publishers and niche site operators producing dozens of posts a month
SEO managers who want query selection driven by their own Search Console data
Content teams at small SaaS and e-commerce brands without a staff writing bench
Agencies running content programmes across multiple client domains
Marketing teams already driving an AI assistant over MCP and wanting research in the same credit pool
Key Features
Word-metered article generation
45,000 words a month on Starter rising to 10,000,000 on Scale III, with bulk writing mode for producing batches and an outline editor for adjusting structure before the full draft is written.
Brand DNA and the Brand DNA agent
Koala AI reads your site once and applies your services, tone and existing pages to every article and chat answer; the agent keeps that context alive across sessions with 25 messages a month on Starter, 50 on Professional and no cap on Boost.
Search Console and Analytics in one dashboard
Professional and above connect your own Google Search Console and Analytics data, so content planning starts from queries you already rank for, with keyword, backlink and SERP research built in.
KoalaLinks internal linking at scale
KoalaLinks indexes your site and places contextual internal links, covering up to 50 sites on Professional - the highest-leverage on-page task for publishers running multiple domains.
MCP server and API access
Every paid plan includes an MCP server that exposes 62 SEO tools plus KoalaWriter to Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, and an API plus WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Ghost and webhook publishing for automation.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Full pricing is public in both cadences: Starter $25, Professional $49 and Boost $99 a month, with annual billing saving 20%, and seven further tiers from Growth at $179 up to Scale III at $2,000 for high-volume publishers
- Brand DNA is a genuine differentiator - one site read makes every article aware of your voice and your existing pages, and the same profile feeds the AI assistant over MCP
- MCP access is bundled with every paid plan rather than upsold, giving Claude or ChatGPT keyword, competitor, backlink and SERP research through KoalaWriter at 0.1 credits per research call
- Professional and above pull your own Search Console and Analytics data into planning, which ties content production to queries you already have a chance of winning
- Publishing plumbing is complete: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Ghost, webhooks and an API cover most stacks without a Zapier detour
- The free entry point is real - 5,000 words and 25 credits with no credit card - and there is a 15-day refund window if you have used under 15,000 words and 100 credits
Cons
- Word quotas are quoted against GPT-6 Luna and shrink on premium models: GPT-6 Sol and Claude Sonnet 5 count words at 2x and Claude Opus 5.5 at 3x, so a 250,000-word plan can deliver 83,000 words on the strongest model
- It is a content volume tool first - thousands of words an hour is exactly what Google scaled-content abuse policy targets, so an editing and fact-checking layer is mandatory rather than optional
- Credits and words are two parallel meters, so research, agent messages and images bill separately from writing and the effective cost per article is higher than the headline word price suggests
- The cheapest paid tier that unlocks Google Search Console planning and KoalaLinks is Professional at $49 a month, which is above typical AI-writer pricing for solo bloggers
- KoalaMagnets, Deep Research and content calendar autopilot are tier-gated, so agencies and publishers end up comparing a high-tier plan against a stack of separate specialist tools

Editorial verdict: the Search Console dashboard and KoalaLinks are what separate this from prompt-based writers - picking queries from your own data and linking internally across dozens of sites is the work that actually moves rankings. The MCP server being standard on paid plans rather than a premium add-on is a smart, current call, since it lets a team drive research from the assistant they already have open. Judge it as a production volume tool with an editorial gate: at $49 a month for 100,000 words, the marginal cost per article is trivial, but so is the marginal cost of publishing something thin, and that is the risk to manage.
