Overview

AgentMail is an email infrastructure product with a simple twist: instead of helping humans manage inboxes, it gives AI agents their own real email inboxes.

Agents get a REST API to create inboxes, send and receive mail, search messages, and trigger webhooks — the same primitives a human email client offers, but exposed as an API.

The company positions it as "email for your AI, not AI for your email" and raised $6M in seed funding to build out the category.

For marketers, AgentMail is the plumbing behind agentic email workflows: AI agents that reply to inbound sales inquiries, sort support mail, monitor competitor newsletters, or run drip sequences with a real deliverable address instead of a simulated one.

Because inboxes are real mailboxes, replies land in a normal inbox and deliverability behaves like any email account.

The platform ships SDKs, an MCP server for agent frameworks, webhooks, SMTP relay, and enterprise controls like custom domains, EU cloud, SOC 2, and SSO.

Use Cases

Building an AI agent that answers sales@ and support@ inboxes automatically

Automating personalized follow-up and drip sequences from a real mailbox

Monitoring competitor newsletters and pricing emails with an agent

Routing and screening inbound mail before it reaches an AI or human agent

Powering agentic workflows that need two-way email with attachments and search

Who Is This For

Developers building AI agents that must send and receive email

Marketing ops teams automating inbound inquiry handling with agents

AI product teams adding email capabilities to assistants and copilots

Agencies building automated outreach systems for clients

Teams using Claude/LangChain-style frameworks who want native MCP email access

Key Features

Real Inbox API

Create and manage actual email inboxes via REST API — labels, attachments, drafts, scheduled send, and search included.

MCP Server & SDKs

Native MCP server plus SDKs so agents built on Claude, LangChain, or custom frameworks can read and write email natively.

Webhooks & Real-Time Events

Agents react instantly to inbound mail via webhook endpoints and websockets instead of polling.

Inbound Screening

Screen mail before an agent reads it — filter spam, classify intent, and route messages without burning agent context.

Enterprise Controls

Custom domains, EU cloud, BYO cloud, white-label, SMTP relay, SOC 2 report, and OIDC/SAML SSO on higher tiers.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Real inboxes — replies land in actual mailboxes with normal deliverability
  • MCP server and SDKs make it drop-in for agent frameworks
  • Transparent usage-based pricing from $0 to $200/mo
  • Webhooks, websockets, and SMTP relay cover real-time and classic integration paths
  • Purpose-built for agents, not retrofitted from a human email client

Cons

  • Developer-oriented — marketers need engineering help to wire it up
  • No built-in campaign UI or templates; it is infrastructure, not an email tool
  • Young product with a small ecosystem compared to mature ESPs

AgentMail solves a real gap we kept hitting when testing agentic email workflows: most "AI email" tools simulate mail, while AgentMail gives agents actual inboxes with proper deliverability and two-way replies. The MCP server and SDKs make integration straightforward for agent frameworks. It is infrastructure though — expect to build the workflow logic yourself; there is no drag-and-drop campaign builder.

For marketing teams, AgentMail is best understood as the engine under an agent that answers sales@ or support@ automatically, monitors competitor sends, or runs personalized follow-up at scale. Transparent pricing from $0 to $200/mo is a plus, and the inbound screening feature keeps agents from burning tokens on spam. Not for non-technical marketers without developer support.
